Projects – Rare Books Library

The drama of light and the manipulation of scale through the contrast of articulated forms against mass are the inspirations for this project. The design expresses the library stacks as a series of slabs between which pavilions are inserted. A meandering central stairway passes through the stacks to arrive at the reading room. The arrangement of light is used to create a strong rhythm along this central spine. The materials are of stone, marbles and bricks.
